We are thrilled to announce the launch of the SEAFAIRER project on September 1st 2024!
The Kick off meeting held on 25 September in Copenhagen (Denmark) was the occasion for the partners to present their work sharing the enthusiasm for the start of this new project.
The SEAFAIRER project, part of the Horizon Europe program (CINEA), has a budget of 10 million euros and a duration of 48 months. The consortium is coordinated by DTU (DANMARKS TEKNISKE UNIVERSITET) and the partners involved in the project are: UABIO (BIOENERGY ASSOCIATION OF UKRAINE), ETA (ETA – ENERGIA, TRASPORTI, AGRICOLTURA SRL), FVTR (FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM FUR VERBRENNUNGSMOTOREN UND THERMODYNAMIK ROSTOCK GMBH), FRAUNHOFER (FRAUNHOFER GESELLSCHAFT ZUR FORDERUNG DER ANGEWANDTEN FORSCHUNG EV), FVP (FUNDACION DE LA COMUNIDAD VALENCIANA PARA LA INVESTIGACION, PROMOCION Y ESTUDIOS COMERCIALES DE VALENCIAPORT), KPMG (KPMG & ASSOCIADOS SOCIEDADE DE REVISORES OFICIAS DE CONTAS SA), PETROGAL (PETROGAL SA), SAGAVA (TERGY SAGAVA – BIOENERGIAS, UNIPESSOAL LDA), CMM (Centro Mario Molina para Estudios Estrategicos sobre Energia y Medio Ambiente AC).
SEAFAIRER (sustainable energy and alternative fuels from advanced intermediate renewable energy carrier technology) aims to demonstrate the production of improved intermediate biofuels for the shipping sector in existing refinery infrastructure.
The feedstocks used in the project are rice husk from the Valencia region (Spain) biowaste sieving material from Bavaria (Germany), and the agave bagasse from southern Mexico. Through the VINTER unit the biomass will be converted through a single-stage intermediate pyrolysis and post-reforming process and will give rise to 3 products: biochar, raw oil (intermediate biofuel) and syngas.
ETA-Florence is the proud leader for dissemination and communication activities of the project.
In the next week we will release the website and the official social media channels.
Stay tuned to learn more and discover the developments about the project!
