ETA-Florence received the prestigious Poster Award for one of the best visual presentations at EU PVSEC 2024, held in Vienna. The award was presented in recognition of innovative solutions in PV landscape integration, showcasing cutting-edge approaches that integrate photovoltaic systems harmoniously in the application of nature-based solutions in Rimini living landscapes.
The poster, authored by Paolo Picchi, landscape architect at ETA-Florence, Gaetano Calise, landscape architect at ETA-Florence, Maurizio Cocchi, agronomist at ETA-Florence, Kristian Fabbri, architect, Department of Architecture, University of Bologna and Filippo Piva, landscape architect at PAMPA Studio and plan coordinator, outlines a novel approach to combining renewable energy generation with ecological restoration. The project aims to create sustainable and resilient urban environments by incorporating solar panels into parklands, community gardens, and other public spaces while simultaneously enhancing these areas’ natural features and processes.
The EU PVSEC is the world’s leading forum for PV research and development and the biggest conference on PV solar energy. Celebrating more than 40 years of history, EU PVSEC is the longest running, renowned PV conference in the world and the annual meeting point for PV experts from research, development, and the industry.
By combining PV systems with NBS, this plan, committed by Anthea Rimini, addresses several key sustainability goals. It contributes to climate mitigation by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promotes biodiversity by creating habitat for wildlife, and enhances the quality of life for local residents by providing clean energy and green spaces.
The award-winning poster highlights the potential of integrating renewable energy into urban landscape planning and demonstrates ETA-Florence’s dedication to landscape architecture.
We are happy to work with such talented colleagues and to celebrate their successes.
