Agrivoltaics is a combination of solar energy and agriculture that can promote the decarbonization of the energy system, but also the sustainability of the agricultural sector and the long-term profitability of small and medium-sized enterprises.
ENEA and ETA-Florence have created the first consolidated National Network for Sustainable Agrivoltaics. The platform aims to bring together the entire supply chain involved by promoting the exchange of information between companies, institutions, universities, and trade associations.
Future activities will be implemented to respond to challenges requiring transdisciplinary collaboration. These include the need to:
● identify innovative methods and solutions for the implementation of agrivoltaic systems in Italy;
● establishing legal and regulatory reference frameworks;
● disseminate pre-normative guidelines for plant installation.
To this end, ENEA is providing a task force with infrastructures and multi-year expertise in the green technology and agro-industry sectors, combining the skills of the Energy Technologies and Renewable Sources and Sustainability of Territorial Production Systems Departments.
ETA-Florence has developed the web platform where the main activities of the sustainable agrivoltaic network will take place. This platform will be a place of exchange for the various national initiatives and best practices, as well as a collection point for pilot projects and case studies. In addition to the coordination and management of the platform, ETA-Florence manages communication activities, organisation of events and publications.
