Bodegas Portia is a new Faustino Group winery located in Ribera del Duero (one of Spain’s foremost Denominación de Origen and one of eleven ‘quality wine’ regions within the autonomous communities of Castile and León).
The project looked at how architecture and design could leverage the topography of the site to aid the winemaking process, and to create the optimum working conditions, while reducing the building’s energy demands and its impact on the landscape.
ETA contributed a study on the utility and efficiency of thin film PV systems to complement the architectural design envisioned and realised by Foster & Partners.
