Development and Industrial Design of Active Building Components for Solar Heating, Ventilation, Cooling and Daylighting, Equipped with a Dynamic Intelligent Regulation
Summary
The objective of this applied research project is to develop two components suitable for incorporation into the facade and roof of a building or to constitute the building cladding itself, when assembled in a continuous structure.
Two prototypes were designed to improve lighting and heating efficiency in buildings. An active intelligent window was developed which reduces energy demand by automatically using external climatic conditions to heat or cool the interior of the building. An optical fibre illuminator (OFI) was investigated that transports solar illumination to improve daylight in a building.
Our Role
Coordinator of the project. Development, construction and testing of the 2 prototypes.
